See a Doctor For a X-ray Referral For $35

Consult an Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) accredited telehealth doctor about your x-ray referral needs.

What Is An X-ray and When Is An X-ray Referral Given?

An X-ray is a type of invisible, high-energy light that can pass through objects, including the human body. When directed at a body part, X-rays create images by passing through and striking a detector or film on the other side. These images show the internal structures of the body, helping doctors diagnose conditions like broken bones or lung infections.

Your GP will suggest an X-ray, if further investigation is needed to check various internal structures such as bones, joints, lungs, etc. This X-ray referral can be taken to any Australian radiology clinic.

What Are The Safety Considerations For X-rays?

X-rays are generally safe in small doses. However, pregnant women may need to inform their healthcare provider, as X-rays can be harmful to the developing foetus.

What Will The Referral Include?

The referral will typically include information about the specific X-ray views needed. For example, if your concern is related to a specific joint or bone, the referral may specify the views required to capture the necessary images

How Will The Referral Be Given?

If an X-ray is recommended, your GP will issue a referral for the X-ray imaging. This referral may be in the form of a written order or an electronic prescription

Will I Have To Book The Test In Advance?

Some X-rays require prior booking. With the referral in hand, you can contact a radiology centre to schedule your appointment.

How Much Does An X-ray Cost?

X-rays are bulk billed by many radiology centres. Please contact your local centre for their fees schedule.
