Will my employer accept the certificate issued online?
Any medical certificate when approved and issued by an AHPRA-registered health practitioner, either online with Hola or via in-person consultation, is typically accepted. It meets all the requirements of the Fair Work Act 2009. However, some employers or universities might have specific policies regarding work sick leave. It’s always best to check their guidelines.

How quickly can I receive the outcome?
If your request is approved, your certificate will be sent to your email shortly after your consultation. Please double-check your email address for any typos to ensure smooth delivery.
This includes access to after-hours doctors who can assist with non-emergency medical concerns and, where clinically appropriate, issue a medical certificate.
Does Hola Health offer backdated sick certificate?
No, Hola Health does not provide a backdated absent from work certificate online. In Australia, sick certificates are intended to provide an accurate reflection of a patient’s health status at the time of assessment. Therefore, doctors are expected to issue sick certificates with the date of assessment to maintain integrity and accuracy.
What information is included in a certificate?
A valid work absence certificate, whether online or in-person, must contain –
- Provider’s name and address
- Patient’s name
- Date of the consultation
- Dates the patient is unfit for work.
- Practitioner’s name & signature
- Practitioner’s registration number
