What is my Health Record?
My Health Record is Australia’s secure electronic health record system. It stores vital health information electronically in one place, allowing you and your healthcare providers to access it when required. It may help multiple healthcare professionals understand your medical history, particularly when you see a new doctor, go to the hospital, or require healthcare management while travelling.
How does My Health Record work?
My Health Record stores health information electronically and enables licensed healthcare professionals to access important information while providing care. You can also view your record online and adjust some privacy settings. Your GP, pharmacy, pathology provider or hospital can also add information to your record.
What information is stored in My Health Record?
Depending on the healthcare you receive, your record may include the following:
- Medical information and health summary.
- Medications and prescription details.
- Pathology test findings.
- Diagnostic imaging reports.
- Hospital discharge information.
- Immunisation information.
- Specialist letters and recommendations.
- Details on advanced care planning.
- Information about organ donation choices.

Who can access My Health Record?
Access may be available to:
- You – You may access your personal health information through your online account.
- Healthcare providers – Doctors, pharmacists, hospitals and other authorised healthcare professionals may access relevant information when providing care.
- People you authorise – You can give another person access to your record where appropriate.
- Parents or carers – Access may be available in certain circumstances, subject to applicable rules.
The information available depends on what healthcare providers have uploaded to your record.

Note: Hola Health offers telehealth consults across Australia. Bulk billing* is available for eligible patients with a valid Medicare card for after-hours urgent care and script refill consultations (if clinically appropriate) during designated periods only. Private fees apply for all other consultations and service types. After-hours telehealth is designed for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions when your regular GP or clinic is closed. It is not a substitute for emergency care.
How do you register or access My Health Record?
If you have a Medicare card or another valid healthcare identification, you may view My Health Record online using you MyGov account. To access it:
- Sign in to your MyGov account.
- Link Medicare to your MyGov account if you have not already done so.
- Select My Health Record.
- Follow the instructions to obtain your health information.
