Thiru Rajendran,
Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Building things has always been in Thiru Rajendran’s blood. In fact, it runs in his family. Thiru’s uncle had started an IT company in the 1980s, and he instilled in Thiru and his brother Lenin a passion for the exhilarating potential of technology.

After studying IT and robotics at university, Thiru completed a mechanical engineering degree before starting his own IT business in partnership with his uncle. The company quickly secured some of the biggest names in the resources and materials sectors as clients, which saw Thiru working on multi-billion-dollar projects across the globe. His days were spent on big-picture items, designing and overseeing complex software and technology solutions. But through it all, he never stopped coding and building his own software, always finding new ways to innovate and create.

After moving to Perth for work, Thiru began rubbing shoulders with the city’s startup community. Buoyed by their entrepreneurial spirit, he started thinking of ways to use his software and engineering expertise to solve problems outside his work for other clients. Thiru still believed in the potential of technology to change the way the world works for the better. He just needed to figure out where he could make the most powerful contribution. That realisation started to take shape when Thiru’s brother Lenin mentioned he’d had trouble procuring medicine for his child after hours. Thiru mentioned this to Dr Vishnu Gopalan, his family GP, and together they brainstormed ways to improve the healthcare system through innovation.

The result is Hola Health: a one-stop platform connecting Australians with doctors and pharmacists with the click of a button. Today, Thiru is busy building Hola Health’s digital architecture, delivering innovative solutions to ensure the platform continues to deliver on its mission of transforming healthcare accessibility for all Australians.
