Dr Vishnu Gopalan,
Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer

Growing up, Dr Vishnu Gopalan always suspected a single job wouldn’t be enough to contain him. After completing his medical training in the United Kingdom, he moved to Australia, where he later started a successful practice, Spectrum Health, focusing on diabetes, skin cancers and mental health. His passion for caring for his patients never waned. But over time, Dr Gopalan found himself drawn to other aspects of the business as well. He discovered he had an entrepreneurial knack for handling the day-to-day tasks of running a self-owned business, and the vision to make bold leaps to take things forward.

Dr Gopalan also had an urge to improve health conditions in his community. After learning about Australia’s doctor shortages, Dr Gopalan decided to play his part in finding a solution by opening a second clinic. It was a success, and so he kept going. Eight years and 45 clinics (and counting) later, his company, Spectrum Health, is now the largest primary healthcare group in Western Australia.

Throughout it all, Dr Gopalan harboured a keen interest in technology. A self-taught tinkerer, he used his free time to create digitised systems and processes, constantly striving to improve operations at his health clinics. And over time, that interest became a passion. “I wanted to do something in the tech space that could help a lot of Australians access healthcare in a timely matter,” Dr Gopalan says. “And was looking for reliable people to achieve this dream.” After a chance encounter with one of his patients – Thiru Rajendran – he knew he’d found his team. Today, Dr Gopalan works as Hola Health’s CMO, overseeing all medical and clinical activities, forging partnerships with doctors, and providing medical and business expertise to help bring quality healthcare to all Australians, no matter where or when they need it.
