Dr. Ravi Rao

Dr Ravi Rao is a highly experienced, fellowship-trained bariatric and general surgeon with over two decades of expertise in minimally invasive and advanced laparoscopic procedures. He is now offering online surgical consultations through Hola Health, where patients can seek expert guidance on weight loss surgery, bariatric care, and general surgical concerns from the comfort of their home. He is also leading a team at Perth Surgical & Bariatrics, Dr. Rao personally ensures that every patient receives world-class treatment, safety, and care. 

 A graduate of Bangalore University (1993), Dr Rao completed his general surgery residency in India through the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) program at St Martha’s Hospital. He later moved to Australia, training further in Launceston, Adelaide, and Perth, ultimately earning his FRACS from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. 

Dr Rao’s bariatric training includes a prestigious fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatrics at Atlanta Medical Center, Georgia (USA), where he trained under Dr Titus Duncan, MD, FACS. He also completed a postgraduate fellowship in Bariatrics at Gosford, NSW. 

Internationally recognized, Dr Rao was the first surgeon to introduce SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy) in Australia and performed the first SIPS surgery in WA in 2017. He has been awarded “Surgeon of Excellence” by the Surgical Review Corporation (USA) for consistently delivering safe, evidence-based care.
