Eye infections can affect your vision, making activities such as driving or prolonged screen use unsafe. Ear infections may cause pain, dizziness, or balance issues that make it difficult to carry out everyday activities. If your symptoms affect your ability to work or study, our doctors or nurse practitioners can assess your condition and issue an online medical certificate following a clinical evaluation.  

How do online assessments for eye and ear infections work? 

To help determine the cause of your symptoms, your doctor may ask about:  

• When your symptoms first appeared 

• The severity of your pain 

• The colour and type of discharge, such as clear, yellow, or green. 

For eye symptoms, they may ask you to position your camera close to your eye in a well-lit room or upload a clear photo beforehand to help with the assessment.
