If your symptoms are recurring, such as frequent ear infections in a child, or require specialised equipment to diagnose, our online doctors can arrange a secure referral to the most appropriate specialist.

• ENTs (Ear, Nose, and Throat specialists), for recurrent ear infections, tinnitus, or balance issues. 

• Ophthalmologists, for complex eye diseases, cataracts, or glaucoma concerns. 

• Audiologists, for hearing tests 

How does the digital referral process work with Hola Health? 

Book a standard consult via an online telehealth appointment for referrals. Speak to an Australian-registered doctor typically within 15 minutes (Based on typical wait times; may vary by demand and practitioner availability). Doctors are available 24/7.  

Discuss your symptoms and request a specialist referral if appropriate. Once your referral has been issued, it will be sent securely to your phone or email in line with the Australian Digital Health Agency guidelines. You can then forward it to your preferred specialist clinic in Australia to book an appointment.  

When to seek emergency care instead of a referral? 

Call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department, rather than waiting for a specialist appointment, if you experience sudden vision loss or a sudden change in vision, severe eye injury, significant eye pain, painful light sensitivity, or a large amount of pus or discharge from the eye. Seek urgent care for ear symptoms if you have sudden hearing loss, fever with severe symptoms, vomiting, weakness or drooping of the face, or redness, pain or swelling behind the ear, especially if the ear is pushed forward.
