Yes. While a telehealth doctor can’t examine your ear canal with an otoscope, they can identify common outer and middle ear conditions by reviewing your symptoms and medical history.

This includes asking about recent swimming, a recent cold or flu, and whether touching or pulling your outer ear is painful to help determine the likely diagnosis. Some ear infections, especially suspected middle ear infections, may need a face-to-face assessment with an otoscope before a diagnosis or treatment plan can be confirmed.

Can I get an eScript for an eye or ear infection through Hola Health?

Yes, subject to clinical assessment. For ear symptoms, treatment depends on whether the problem is likely to involve the outer ear, middle ear or another cause. You may be referred for an in-person ear examination before ear drops or antibiotics are prescribed.
