Yes, following a telehealth consultation, if clinically appropriate. Hola Health doctors can issue prescriptions to help manage cold and flu symptoms, where clinically appropriate. A prescription is not guaranteed, and the doctor may recommend in-person assessment instead.
Viruses cause colds and flu, whereas antibiotics treat bacterial infections. Depending on your symptoms, the stage of your illness, and your medical history, the telehealth doctor will talk through the most appropriate way to manage your symptoms based on your individual assessment during your consultation. All prescribing decisions are based on a comprehensive medical assessment.
You will need to have an online telehealth consult with one of our Ahpra-registered doctors online. During the consult, you can discuss your symptoms and get medical advice. The online doctor can discuss medications options. Once approved, your prescription is provided as a secure eScript and delivered directly to you via SMS or email in accordance with Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) standards.
Simply show the digital token at a participating Australian pharmacy to receive your medication. There’s no need for a paper script, and your information remains protected under Australian privacy laws. If your medicine has repeats, the pharmacy will issue a new token for the next repeat.
Colds and flu can often aggravate existing respiratory conditions like asthma. If you need a repeat script for your regular inhaler, Hola Health doctors can review your medication needs and arrange a repeat prescription when clinically appropriate.
If your asthma or breathing symptoms are worsening, you are needing your reliever more often than usual, or your symptoms are not improving; you should seek urgent medical care rather than relying on a repeat prescription alone.
For a repeat script request or discuss your treatment options, book a standard consult via an online telehealth appointment. Speak to a doctor typically within 15 minutes (Based on typical wait times; may vary by demand and practitioner availability). Doctors are available 24/7.
Note: Telehealth is not suitable for medical emergencies. If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department immediately.
