Bladder Ultrasound Referral

• Challenges with urination
• Frequent trips to urinate
• Discomfort or a burning sensation while urinating
• Presence of blood in the urine
• Pain in the lower abdomen
• Sensation of not fully emptying the bladder

A bladder ultrasound can reveal the dimensions, form, and thickness of the bladder walls. It can assess urine volume, detect stones or unusual masses, and gauge the amount of residual urine after urination.

• It may miss very small tumours.
• The assessment of adjacent structures is limited.
• Results may require alignment with urine analysis or cystoscopy.

• Consume water as directed to achieve a full bladder.
• Refrain from urinating before the examination if instructed.
• Dress in comfortable attire.
