There is no set restriction on how frequently you may utilise telehealth in Australia. You may typically book a telehealth appointment online whenever medically necessary, whether for a one-time sickness, repeat prescriptions, doctor’s certificates, follow-ups, or ongoing health care.

With Hola Health, you can access online script requests, med certs, referrals, or have a medical consultation 24/7 within minutes.

However, telehealth is best suited for non-emergency conditions that do not require a physical examination. If your symptoms change, worsen, or need testing, a doctor may recommend an in-person consultation. Frequent telehealth use for chronic diseases may also work better when combined with a regular GP who is familiar with your medical history.

If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 immediately.

How do I know if a telehealth service is real?

A credible telehealth service in Australia should be transparent about who delivers care and how consultations are conducted. One of the simplest ways to verify is to check whether the doctors or medical practitioners are AHPRA-registered, which means they are authorised to practise in Australia.

You should also check for clear contact information, privacy policies, pricing, and explanations of prescriptions, referrals, and Medicare eligibility. Trustworthy providers clearly disclose their rates and avoid making false medical claims.

Hola Health is an Australian Digital Health Agency-registered telehealth service, founded in Australia. The Hola Health website and app clearly mention prices and the consultation process on each service page. All Hola Health doctors and medical nurse practitioners are AHPRA-registered and based in Australia.

How private is online healthcare?

Online healthcare in Australia is often confidential and protected by rigorous privacy rules, similar to consulting a doctor in person. Telehealth providers are supposed to keep medical records securely and adhere to confidentiality policies, which means that your health information should not be disclosed without your agreement unless legally needed.

Reputable telehealth providers like Hola Health employ secure ADHA-registered technology to handle video conversations, prescriptions, referrals, certificates, and patient information.
