So, when you get a medical certificate through Hola, it carries the same legal weight as one from your local clinic. It’s valid for work, uni, school, and any official purpose across Australia.
- What the Fair Work Act says - Under the Fair Work Act 2009, your employer must accept reasonable evidence that you were unfit for work. A medical certificate issued by an AHPRA-registered practitioner through a telehealth consult meets that requirement. In short: yes, your Hola certificate counts.
- Your privacy is protected - We follow the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which means your personal and medical information is handled with strict care. Your records are encrypted, stored securely in Australia, and only accessible to authorised clinicians when needed for your care
Considerations:
- Single and same-day certificates can be received via text-based consultation over your phone or laptop/computer.
- Certificates for 2 days or more require a video telehealth consult with our GP online
- We do not backdate the certificates
- Proof may be requested at any time. Employers have the right to request medical proof for any absence.
- Future illness is not covered. You can’t get a certificate ahead of time for possible future illnesses.
- Diagnosis is not required in medical certificates. Employers don’t need to know the specifics of your condition, only that you’re unfit to work or study.
