Yes. An online doctor can be a convenient first step in seeking support for your mental health. During a supportive, non-judgemental consultation, Hola Health doctors can assess your symptoms, discuss lifestyle measures, and arrange a referral to a psychologist if clinically appropriate.  

If you have thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, feel unsafe, are experiencing severe distress, hallucinations, mania, confusion, or a rapidly worsening mental state, call 000 or seek urgent in-person care. 

Can an online doctor prescribe medication for anxiety or depression? 

In some cases, following a thorough clinical assessment. Depending on your medical history and current symptoms, a doctor may discuss non-addictive medication options or issue a repeat prescription for certain long-term mental health medications, where clinically appropriate. For some symptoms or medicines, the doctor may recommend an in-person GP, psychiatrist, emergency department, or other service instead. 

Hola Health doctors do NOT prescribe Schedule 8 or Schedule 4 drugs of addiction. 

Is bulk billing available for doctor consults for mental health conditions? 

Yes, bulk-billed* telehealth consultations are available after hours for urgent care for eligible Medicare cardholders.  

Anxiety, panic attacks, and depressive thoughts often occur late at night, when traditional clinics are closed. Hola Health’s after-hours bulk billing is designed to ensure professional support is  

available to you when you need it most.

What are the costs outside of bulk-billing hours? 

Consultations outside the eligible bulk-billing hours are charged at the standard private fee. You can check the current consultation fees on telehealth consult before booking.
